Goliath is has a sad story.  He had a good life for 10 years.  Then his loving family dumped him at a kill shelter because he was "too old".  

Luckily, our friends at the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society of Houston do not think a old dog deserves to be treated like an old washing machine.  With our sponsorship, they pulled him from the shelter before he could be killed. Our sponsorship money will go toward vet bills and other costs (of which there will be a lot as he may end up in foster care for the rest of his life).

This is Fritz.  He ended up in a kill shelter in Pennsylvania.  Heartworm positive, his chances of rescue were slim.  Our friends at the Rescue Express made a questionable financial decision and took him from the shelter without any place to put him!  So he is now a lonely boy in boarding, eating up the rescue's precious funds with every day he stays there.  Dumb move?  Maybe so, but at least he is alive.

We agreed to sponsor him to help pay for his boarding and heartworm treatment because we love rescues that go out on limb to save doomed dogs.

This skinny little ShiTzu mix ended up in a kill shelter in Texas.  For some reason no one wanted to adopt her, though she is as cute as could be.  Possibly the problem was that she has a stiff leg and heartworms.  She was scheduled to die the next day, when our St. Bernard rescue friends, Rosie and Gisela, pulled her from the shelter with our sponsorship.

Now why these rescue angels even looked at a little dog one tenth the size of their normal dogs, I don't know.  But I am glad they did!

This is Skully.  She is six months old.  Shee ended up in a shelter in rural South Carolina.  Shee waited and waited, but no one wanted to adopt her.  The shelter ran out of time and had to decide to put him to sleep.  However, because of our standing offer to sponsor any adoptable dog from the shelter, the Cherokee County Humane Society pulled her. This picture is of Ginger Blue. She is a sheltie mix, probably 3 months old. This little puppy and several other dogs were left in a house that had flood waters all around. A person went inside the house and found several little dogs, a border collie and some cats. This kind man called me for help. Dave and me drove over and picked them up this afternoon.
Ginger Blue will be going tomorrow for her vaccinations. I named the border collie Cookie, will take her tomorrow too.
Ginger Blue will go Wednesday to Chicago along with 22 puppies, 6 little dogs. 4 large dogs over 50 lbs.
Some more may get added before Wednesday.

This is Roy.  He has multiple medical problems from the severe abuse and neglect he has received from his owners.  Because he comes from a dangerous and unstable situation, I cannot give any details.  He is now in the caring hands of the wonderful rescuers associated with  the National Great Pyrenees Rescue.  Our sponsorship will pay for part of this vet bills.

This picture of Ellie may look awful, but to me it is beautiful!  Ellie was in a kill shelter with a badly damaged leg.  It clearly needed to be amputated.  With that problem, she had approximately zero chance of being rescued.  In one of the rescue miracles that continually amaze me,  our friend Paige Segovia at Lonestar Pyrs & Paws Texas decided to save Ellie and never mind the cost!  This picture shows Ellie after her expensive surgery.  She is now on the road to recovery and will have a good life as a three-legged dog.  We promised to sponsor a portion of the costs of Ellie's operation.
