Abilene

Have you ever seen such a sad sight?  She is waiting for her family to come back and get her.  This beautiful Great Pyr was someone’s faithful pet – and that person dumped her off at a kill shelter to be disposed of.

Could you please chip in $5 for poor Abilene?

She is a very depressed, lonely girl in a kill shelter in Texas, just waiting to see her family again.  Since they dumped her off to be killed, there is no hope of that happening.  Dogs that are surrendered by their owners have no protection in state law against being immediately put to death.  To make matters worse, big, grown-up dogs like her are not very adoptable, so crowded shelters do not hold them for long.  The situation was very grim for her.

Our webbot found a listing for Abilene on Petfinder a couple of days ago.  Our hearts went out to this sad girl and we decided to do whatever we could to save her.  We asked our friends at the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society of Houston to take her and they agreed!  GPRS will pull her from the shelter, get her vetted and put her in a foster home while they look for a good permanent home for her.

Our sponsorship money will go toward vet bills and other costs of fostering her until a permanent home can be found.

All donations go directly from Paypal to Great Pyrenees Rescue Society of Houston, a 501(c)(3) charity, and are tax-deductible. Please chip in - together we can save this one and many more!

Connie and Dave Emergency!

Dear Doomed Dogs Club - please see the email from Connie below.  They need money ASAP for a trip this week for 4 vans of dogs to go to a huge adoption event.  Please chip in if you can - thanks!

Michael and Friends,
We have an emgerency.

Dave went to Chicago Sunday with 38 puppies and dogs.

He noticed oil coming from our tailpipe. He was really concerned about making it home.

We took to the repair shop yesterday. It is the rear end and axis.

We have this huge adoption event in Chicago this Friday. The Mega Adoption Event.

I have 4 vans scheduled to go with dogs.

Already we are strained on gas money to make the trip. Now the repairs to the van.

I am beside myself.

Please if anyone could help us, we are desperate.

How can I tell all the groups down here there dogs cannot make the trip?

Right now the repair bill is $350.00. I don't know what the final bill will be.

[UPDATE from Connie: $500.00 for a new axle. Plus the $350.00.

What are we going to do????????????????????]

Thank you Michael and all our dear friends,

Connie and Dave

Connie and Dave regularly drive around and pick up doomed dogs from shelters in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri. These dogs would likely be put to sleep if not for them. Your donations literally make the difference as to whether there is enough gas money for these trips to happen or not and whether these dogs live or die- thanks for your support!

Ginger

Could you please chip in $5 to help pay the vet bills to save Ginger?

Email from Julie, the National GP Rescue person in South Georgia who stepped up for us a couple of weeks ago to save Johnny:

"Thank you for listing “Johnny” on your site.  As fate would have it, this lovely Collie crossed my path yesterday and I grabbed her off the highway after she dodged a car.  I am trying to get her hooked up with a Collie rescue but while I await their response I really need to work on getting her spayed and current on vaccines and tested for heartworms.  Is there any chance you could set up a “chip in” for Ginger?  I can take some photos of her this afternoon or email one I took yesterday on my phone.  Please let me know if you can help me with this.  I expect her vet fees to be $82 for spay, $12 for rabies, and ???? for other vaccines.  I am really hoping she is heartworm negative."

Please help pay for these vet fees so Julie can save more dogs - thanks!

Montana Emergency!

Here is an email from Christiane Sikora of GP Rescue Montana about a terrible situation there.   A rancher had some unaltered GPs and Akbashes that bred themselves into an emergency.  See below:

"There are 30+ unaltered Great Pyrenees/ Akbash mix dogs and 11 unaltered pups on that ranch. We have found a veterinarian willing to hold a spay/ neuter event on the ranch for the adult dogs. She will charge $1,700 and devote an entire day to spaying/ neutering as many dogs as she can- hoping to get them all. Once that is done, we will place them on ranches as Livestock Guardians, as that is what the dogs were raised to do- these dogs are not pets. We will need to raise the money for this event.

In the meantime, the eleven pups will arrive at Great Pyrenees Rescue of Montana on Tuesday, March 13. We need to raise $500 to enlarge the existing shelter and enclosure, and the money to vet, spay and neuter them. They all need immunizations and worming medication. We will then find good homes for these babies.
There are an additional estimated 30 dogs running in packs throughout a 10-mail radius in the area, where the ranch is located,. These dogs have not yet been located and are reported to be feral. We will attempt to help these animals as well.

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Montana is overwhelmed with this situation. We have no choice, we have  to become involved, to avoid further breeding, but are in desperate help for additional funding. Thank you for your assistance."

Please chip in to help these dogs - we are trying to raise $200 to help.  Thanks!

All donations are tax deductible and go directly to National Great Pyrenees Rescue, a 501c3 charity.

Chicago Roadtrip!

An email from Connie:

Hi Michael and Friends,
Will be on the road again this week transporting more puppies. Dave is leaving tomorrow night with 26 puppies, a 3 golden ret (that was a give away) and 4 momma dogs, to Chciago

Transport next Sunday to Paws in Chicago with 30 puppies.

Transport the Sunday the 25th to Chicago Paws with 25 adult dogs.

Transport on the 30th to Chicago with 4 vans of adult dogs for the Mega Adoption Event at PetsMart.

Above is Coco and her 5 - 3 week old puppies. I was contacted last Wednesday night by the Vian OK police that a guy had no water or food for this dog. When I got there Coco we had a gallon jug of water and she drank all of it. She barely had any milk for her babies. The man also told the police that he had planned on shooting the mom as soon as the puppies were giving away.

Today Momma Coco eats all she wants, is very happy. She has enough food and water. Her babies have started eating too. We plan on transporting her on the 25th.

I am working on writing a grant to get an isolation building on our land.

Please keep Dave in your prayers in the next few weeks.

God Bless all,

Connie and Dave

Taylor

Could you please chip in $5 to help save a blind baby?

This beautiful Great Pyrenees puppy is Taylor.  We are helping our friends at Lone Star Pyrs and Paws rescue him and his brother from terrible squalor - when found, they all had fleas so bad that two of the litter died.

Although he is blind and will be hard to place, Lone Star will save him and eventually find him a good home.  We are sponsoring part of the cost to make it possible.

Our sponsorship money will go toward vet bills and other costs of fostering him until a permanent home can be found.

All donations go directly from Paypal to Lone Star Pyrs and Paws, a 501(c)(3) charity, and are tax-deductible. Please chip in - together we can save this one and many more!

Abby

Could you please chip in $5 to help Abby?

Abby is the mother of Ella, a dog we just raised money for.  Abby was starved by her owners to the awful condition you see in her picture - she weighs less than 50 pounds.  A Pyr her age should weigh at least 90 pounds...

Beautiful young Abby was found nearly dead of starvation.  She was reported to the SPCA and seized from her owners as a victim of abuse.

Our friends at GP Rescue Oklahoma have agreed to take her and hopefully nurse her back to health.  They need our help to pay for vet bills and food for this poor girl.

Please help us if you can – we are trying to raise $160 for her.

All donations go directly from Paypal to Great Pyrenees Rescue Oklahoma.

Please chip in - together we can help save her and many more!
