Sam

Please see the plea below from Caring Hearts Rescue:

Poor Sam needs our help! Sam was rescued from a shelter where he was dumped. Sam is a 9 year old 28 pound Shih Tzu. You can see the HUGE tumor hanging from his ear! (First photo from left) He was in horrible condition and when no one else stepped up to help him our volunteers jumped into action to bring this sweetie into a foster home. We took him into the Vet to have him checked out and found the following conditions- Sam's bladder is filled with stones! Sam has severe dental disease and will most likely need most of his teeth removed. He has a heart murmur most likely related to the poor condition of his teeth. Sam's lymph nodes were enlarged so our doctor did a LYME test to find him infected.Sam eyes are infected and he also has a dry eye condition needing medications. Sam has a very large tumor hanging from his ear needing to be removed. All of these conditions have been going on for some time and poor Sam has suffered because of it. I know that the enormity of his conditions seems like a lot to undertake, but we knew going into rescuing him that we were up to the challenge. We see a checklist of ailments we can fix to bring this sweet boy to a pain free point in his life. We've already completed the following test: blood chemistry, urinalysis, lyme test, eye stain, tear test, x-rays, fecal test and ear test. The doctor determined we can free Sam from his current painful condition and bring him to a point where he can live his life comfortable and free from pain. Sam is currently taking antibiotics and pain meds while he gains his strength to prepare him for the major surgeries he needs. With your help, we can take Sam in for Bladder Stone Surgery, Tumor removal and removal of all his infected teeth, which was determined to be most of his teeth. We're hoping to have raised enough money to get him into surgery soon!! Please, consider helping with Sam's surgery! Getting Sam to a point where we can show you photos of his care once he's pain free will be an amazing achievement towards saving a loving dog with so much potential. Thank you so much for helping this sweetheart! Tax Deductable Donations can be made here at the Chip In or at the address below. Caring Hearts Rescue is a 501c3 Non-Profit Animal Rescue. THANK YOU for saving Sam!!! Mailing address for donations-Mailing Address: Caring Hearts Rescue P.O. Box 6592 Springfield, Va. 22150.

Ice/Bama

Please help National GP Rescue pay the vet bills to save this pretty girl!

We received this email from a wonderful Good Samaritan:

"My name is Kathy Hogan and I live in Louisville Kentucky.  Last Sunday, May 13th (Mother's Day) my friends, daughter and I were driving to Panama City Florida for a vacation.  We experienced a great pyranees being struck by a car on the I-65.  She was thrown into our lane and couldn't get up due to her hips being broken and a fracture leg.  We stopped traffic witth help of others and a TractorTrailor Truck so that we could remove Ice from the road.   Police came of course there was nothing they could do but put her down.  That was not going to happen!  We wrapped her in a blanket, lifted her into a truck and road in the bed with her to an Animal Clinic in East Chase, Alabama to evaluate her.  Yes, great news the next day after several xrays that she can survive with extensive surgery and extensive therapy.  She had surgery this past Wednesday, May 16th and is doing well.  The couple, Greg and Phyllis who helped us is fostering her now.  We are still trying to raise money for her and would like to know if you are interested.  My friend Joye Estes told me to email you and see what you could do.  There is a website that you can go on to donate money for Ice and read the updates on her.  Thank you for your concerns and help!  Take care

Thanks,

Kathy Hogan"

Rescue Journey

Dear friends of Connie and Dave's rescue - they need our help again for gas money to save a van load of dogs, puppies,  and this time, a cat and a few kittens!

You charitable dollars never get a better bang for the buck than supporting these trips - just a little donation can save a life!

Here is an email from Connie:

Hi Michael and Friends,
This email just came to me. Plus 6 others. All about moms and babies. Even a mom cat and her 3 kittens.

This mom they could not even unload at the pound. They are all full. So, this mom and babies, if I could not take, was doomed to die immediately.

I have them pulled in a foster. Sending out emails to all my contacts. With God's help, I will be able to get them transported next week.

Dave is leaving tonight for Chicago.

He has 28 on board. Mostly little dogs and puppies.

If everything works out, this mom and her babies can go next Tuesday to Chicago.

Seems I cannot get them out fast enough or transported.

Thank all you for your continued support.

Connie and Dave

Connie and Dave regularly drive around and pick up doomed dogs from shelters in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri. These dogs would likely be put to sleep if not for them. Your donations literally make the difference as to whether there is enough gas money for these trips to happen or not and whether these dogs live or die- thanks for your support!

Rex

Could you please chip in $5 to help save an injured baby?

This beautiful Great Pyrenees puppy is Rex.  We are helping our friends at Lone Star Pyrs and Paws rescue him. He  was hit by a car and taken to a shelter. Preliminary X-rays showed a fracture in the growth plate and a torn ligament. He has had two surgeries and is starting to recover.  The vet costs are astronomical.

Our sponsorship money will go toward the vet bills.  Thanks for helping!

Rex is in foster care now and we hope he will end up with a loving family.

All donations go directly from Paypal to Lone Star Pyrs and Paws, a 501(c)(3) charity, and are tax-deductible. Please chip in - together we can save this one and many more!

Puppy Trip

Hi Michael and Friends:

I was sent an email from the Great Pyr Rescue here in Oklahoma. A request had come through their system, but they were unable to help. I made some phone calls and PAWS Chicago will help us with this mom and her babies.

The babies are 5 weeks old.  The person who has this mom and babies is moving. She also recently had brain surgery, so she is very limited on what she can do. And of course she has no money.

Dave and me are leaving tomorrow night to take this mom and her babies to PAWS. Also on the trip will be 4 puppies age 12 weeks from Tina, 22 puppies from Shana, ages from 7 months to 4 months and another 4 puppies from Vian area.

Shana, a rescue from Van Buren Ark is over loaded with puppies and many, many dogs. She needs dog food, which I try to help her out each week. Her ONLY hope is to transport her rescues out of her area. There are no homes.

Next Monday she can send 25 more to PAWS.

The following Sunday, May 6th, Dave and me are transporting to DeWitt New York. 22 Dogs. It is a long trip, but many of the larger dogs can make this trip.

I cannot say how much we need help to make these trips possible. All of you have been the help that has been the wonderful help line that makes it all possible for these wonderful souls to get their forever home.

Dave and me strive to make these trips happen. We know that the ONLY hope all of these babies have is to get them to the humane societies up north.

We will keep all of you posted. And we will send pictures from New York.  We need lots of prayers for a safe trip for all.

God Bless all of you our friends,

Connie Sue Guthrie & Dave Guthrie

Sweetie

Our friends at Great Pyrenees Rescue of Houston need our help.  Here is an email from them:

"This poor little girl has been abused. While we can't say for sure what really happened, we certainly have seen these situations is the past. She was adopted & returned. She is so scared that when you approach her she pees on herself. She was probably adopted to be an LGD & when she didn't do what the owners wanted she was probably beaten. I don't know how anyone could do that to a face like that. In time, she will realize that not all people are cruel.

Could you sponsor her please?"

Great Pyrenees Rescue Society of Houston will get her vetted and put her in a loving foster home while they look for a good permanent home for her.

Our sponsorship money will go toward vet bills and other costs of fostering her until a permanent home can be found.

Amos

Email from Gisela:

"Hi Michael.  Could you please help us with poor Amos?  Amos was pulled from a high kill shelter in San Angelo.  He is approximately 6 years old and was an owner surrender (UGH).  He has a badly injured paw and a severe case of pneumonia.  He is also heartworm +.   His fur is so matted that it will take awhile to get his coat back into shape.  We are not even going there yet until we get his pneumonia taken care of.  He is so weak he can barely get up.

We really appreciate your help once again.  Thank you, Gisela"

Our rescue partners, Rosie and Gisela at St. Cloud’s, need our help to pay for the surgery and other medical costs.  Amos is now at St. Clouds.

Please chip in and help raise $160 for him using the ChipIn.

Whisper

A couple of week ago, we were contacted by rescuers desperately trying to save this handsome boy from being put to sleep.  We agreed to sponsor him if a rescue could be found to take him.

Here is the email that came from the shelter:

"This is a pyr mix and I have NO room.  Everyone says he is sweet as can be
- HW negative.  They think he is pyr/chow mix.

*URGENT - Needs rescue by MONDAY!!

**Whisper has been at the shelter 4-5 months.  He is 5 years old.  He even
went through heartworm treatment.  But his adoption fell through because of
his separation anxiety.  He needs to be in a safe yard when no one is home.
When you are home, he will sleep at your feet or just sit next to you for
some love.  He is 45 pounds (but looks bigger). ** HE IS ON THE "LIST" FOR
MONDAY, APRIL 16!*"

Here is what the volunteer at the shelter wrote:

"Whisper is a darling boy that is 5 years old and lived most of his life alone. He loves humans of all shapes and sizes and wants nothing more than your love and to give you his. Because Whisper was alone for so long and left out in a yard he is most comfortable there when his human isn't home. He adores being inside sleeping at your feet and is always on his best behavior but would rather enjoy the sunshine on days when he's home alone. Whisper is 45lbs and has been treated for Heartworms thanks to a lovely donor. "

The wonderful people at Gentle Giants agreed to take him.

Could you please chip in to make this possible?

All donations are made through the Chip In directly to Gentle Giants, a 501c3 charity and are tax deductible.

Thanks!

Cooper

Could you spare $5 for a needy little boy?

What a sad sight!  Cooper was turned into a kill shelter by his owner.  I suppose the owner just didn't have time to spend with this gorgeous badger great pyr puppy.  So his owner dumped him in the kill shelter where dogs who are surrendered by their owners can be put to sleep before the owner leaves the parking lot.

Our  friends at the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society of Houston are taking him with our sponsorship.

They will  get him vetted and put him in a foster home while they look for a good permanent home for him.  Our sponsorship money will go toward vet bills and other costs of fostering him until a permanent home can be found.

All donations go directly from Paypal to Great Pyrenees Rescue Society of Houston, a 501(c)(3) charity, and are tax-deductible.
