Could you please chip in $5 to help this beautiful girl?
We have seen many sad pictures of beautiful Great Pyrs reduced to starving strays. What makes this one different is that she has a horrible case of mange. She is still in the shelter as of now (June 15) and must stay there until her stray hold in up. In the meantime, the shelter does not allow her to be treated. She itches so much that she is eating herself alive.
Any dog in a kill shelter that looks like this has zero chance of being adopted. Zero.
Lucky for Hope (now being called Clover), the shelter contacted our friend Doreen of GP Rescue of Oklahoma. Doreen couldn't turn her back on this poor, suffering animal but her rescue is run on a shoestring and she can't afford the treatment to cure Hope. Doreen reached out to us to help.
With our financial support, Doreen can pick up Hope on Sunday and give this poor girl the care she needs. Eventually, Doreen will find her a loving home.
Could you please chip in to help?.
Please help us if you can – we are trying to raise $300 for her.
All donations go directly from Paypal to National Great Pyrenees Rescue, a 501(c)(3) charity, and are tax-deductible.
Please chip in - together we can help save her and many more!

Dear friends of Connie and Dave's rescue - they need our help again for gas money to save a van load of dogs and puppies!
You charitable dollars never get a better bang for the buck than supporting these trips - just a little donation can save a life!
Here is an email from Connie:
To all our friends,
As most of you know, Dave and I lost a very loving, dear friend yesterday. Little Bit was our constant companion. We loved him dearly. As the email decribes below, he was a rescue. Rescued from a pound after being found in a field, starved and half frozen to death.
So many do not get out of the pounds to get a chance for their home.
In the loving memory of Little Bit, Dave and I pulled 13 (the number of years Little Bit was here on this earth) dogs from a local pound. Dogs that never would have gotten their chance for a home. Not around here anyway. Most are black dogs. All sweet and loving.
We are taking all to our vet on Monday. Having them vaccinated, spayed and neutered.
I will be sending an email with their pictures.
My hopes are high that the humane societies in Chicago will be kind to step forward to help me and Dave. This is a mission of love. All of the transports are, but for these 13 especially.
Also, our new building (from a blessed grant from Petco) is in the works. I am taking pictures from ground up. This building is a transporting/isolation building that we can prepare the dogs in for transporting to Chicago, New York.
The building will have a room with a tub to bathe the dogs/puppies, and 18 (5 x 10) wire kennels for keeping the transported dogs in. The building will be named in loving memory of our daughter.
On each kennel we have decided to let our friends "chip in". For a donation of your choice we will place a cage plaque with you and your pet's name on it or your organization on that kennel. So, everyone will be helping with each transport. That kennel will have a lucky dog/puppy that gets his/her chance for a home in Chicago, New York.
I hope all will want to "chip in". This building will help our organization save many more lives.
To date, over 8000 have been rescued and transported to out of state humane societies. This is since April 2009.
I will update everyone when the new building will be finished.
A long time coming. And so appreciated.
God Bless all.

Today has been hard on me.
I don't take death easy. Most of us don't. To me I cannot stop the mourning.
Last night our little dog Little Bit had a stroke. I tried to give him comfort. I stayed up all night with him, and so did Dave. And I knew at 4:00 a.m this morning that I would have to have him put to sleep when Dr. Elliott opened.
That was hard to accept.
Little bit came to me last January. He was found in a field, half frozen, starved, truly a little guy that had been thrown away.
I took the call, went and got him. Gave him TLC, love, and lots of Little Caesars.
I did put him on transport to MN first. They rejected him because of his age and heart murmur. So did Chicago.
So, I told the little guy, you are going to stay with me for the rest of your life.
Little Bit went everywhere we did, even when we got our Gizmo.
Little Bit loved the sunshine, loved his Little Caesars, and lying on my feet by my desk. Where ever I went Little bit was there along with Gizmo.
So I have cried today. I have thought of the good times we had. And there were many. It does not ease my loss or pain or sorrow.
He only gave love. And I am so thankful that he came into my life.
Now he is with our daughter. Enjoying the sun and beauty of heaven. Until we meet again, goodbye my Little Bit.

Poor Sam needs our help! Sam was rescued from a shelter where he was dumped. Sam is a 9 year old 28 pound Shih Tzu. You can see the HUGE tumor hanging from his ear! (First photo from left) He was in horrible condition and when no one else stepped up to help him our volunteers jumped into action to bring this sweetie into a foster home. We took him into the Vet to have him checked out and found the following conditions- Sam's bladder is filled with stones! Sam has severe dental disease and will most likely need most of his teeth removed. He has a heart murmur most likely related to the poor condition of his teeth. Sam's lymph nodes were enlarged so our doctor did a LYME test to find him infected.Sam eyes are infected and he also has a dry eye condition needing medications. Sam has a very large tumor hanging from his ear needing to be removed. All of these conditions have been going on for some time and poor Sam has suffered because of it. I know that the enormity of his conditions seems like a lot to undertake, but we knew going into rescuing him that we were up to the challenge. We see a checklist of ailments we can fix to bring this sweet boy to a pain free point in his life. We've already completed the following test: blood chemistry, urinalysis, lyme test, eye stain, tear test, x-rays, fecal test and ear test. The doctor determined we can free Sam from his current painful condition and bring him to a point where he can live his life comfortable and free from pain. Sam is currently taking antibiotics and pain meds while he gains his strength to prepare him for the major surgeries he needs. With your help, we can take Sam in for Bladder Stone Surgery, Tumor removal and removal of all his infected teeth, which was determined to be most of his teeth. We're hoping to have raised enough money to get him into surgery soon!! Please, consider helping with Sam's surgery! Getting Sam to a point where we can show you photos of his care once he's pain free will be an amazing achievement towards saving a loving dog with so much potential. Thank you so much for helping this sweetheart! Tax Deductable Donations can be made here at the Chip In or at the address below. Caring Hearts Rescue is a 501c3 Non-Profit Animal Rescue. THANK YOU for saving Sam!!! Mailing address for donations-Mailing Address: Caring Hearts Rescue P.O. Box 6592 Springfield, Va. 22150.

We received this email from a wonderful Good Samaritan:
"My name is Kathy Hogan and I live in Louisville Kentucky. Last Sunday, May 13th (Mother's Day) my friends, daughter and I were driving to Panama City Florida for a vacation. We experienced a great pyranees being struck by a car on the I-65. She was thrown into our lane and couldn't get up due to her hips being broken and a fracture leg. We stopped traffic witth help of others and a TractorTrailor Truck so that we could remove Ice from the road. Police came of course there was nothing they could do but put her down. That was not going to happen! We wrapped her in a blanket, lifted her into a truck and road in the bed with her to an Animal Clinic in East Chase, Alabama to evaluate her. Yes, great news the next day after several xrays that she can survive with extensive surgery and extensive therapy. She had surgery this past Wednesday, May 16th and is doing well. The couple, Greg and Phyllis who helped us is fostering her now. We are still trying to raise money for her and would like to know if you are interested. My friend Joye Estes told me to email you and see what you could do. There is a website that you can go on to donate money for Ice and read the updates on her. Thank you for your concerns and help! Take care
Thanks,
Kathy Hogan"

Dear friends of Connie and Dave's rescue - they need our help again for gas money to save a van load of dogs, puppies, and this time, a cat and a few kittens!
You charitable dollars never get a better bang for the buck than supporting these trips - just a little donation can save a life!
Here is an email from Connie:
Hi Michael and Friends,
This email just came to me. Plus 6 others. All about moms and babies. Even a mom cat and her 3 kittens.
This mom they could not even unload at the pound. They are all full. So, this mom and babies, if I could not take, was doomed to die immediately.
I have them pulled in a foster. Sending out emails to all my contacts. With God's help, I will be able to get them transported next week.
Dave is leaving tonight for Chicago.
He has 28 on board. Mostly little dogs and puppies.
If everything works out, this mom and her babies can go next Tuesday to Chicago.
Seems I cannot get them out fast enough or transported.
Thank all you for your continued support.

Could you please chip in $5 to help save an injured baby?
This beautiful Great Pyrenees puppy is Rex. We are helping our friends at Lone Star Pyrs and Paws rescue him. He was hit by a car and taken to a shelter. Preliminary X-rays showed a fracture in the growth plate and a torn ligament. He has had two surgeries and is starting to recover. The vet costs are astronomical.
Our sponsorship money will go toward the vet bills. Thanks for helping!
Rex is in foster care now and we hope he will end up with a loving family.

I was sent an email from the Great Pyr Rescue here in Oklahoma. A request had come through their system, but they were unable to help. I made some phone calls and PAWS Chicago will help us with this mom and her babies.
The babies are 5 weeks old. The person who has this mom and babies is moving. She also recently had brain surgery, so she is very limited on what she can do. And of course she has no money.
Dave and me are leaving tomorrow night to take this mom and her babies to PAWS. Also on the trip will be 4 puppies age 12 weeks from Tina, 22 puppies from Shana, ages from 7 months to 4 months and another 4 puppies from Vian area.
Shana, a rescue from Van Buren Ark is over loaded with puppies and many, many dogs. She needs dog food, which I try to help her out each week. Her ONLY hope is to transport her rescues out of her area. There are no homes.
Next Monday she can send 25 more to PAWS.
The following Sunday, May 6th, Dave and me are transporting to DeWitt New York. 22 Dogs. It is a long trip, but many of the larger dogs can make this trip.
I cannot say how much we need help to make these trips possible. All of you have been the help that has been the wonderful help line that makes it all possible for these wonderful souls to get their forever home.
Dave and me strive to make these trips happen. We know that the ONLY hope all of these babies have is to get them to the humane societies up north.
We will keep all of you posted. And we will send pictures from New York. We need lots of prayers for a safe trip for all.
God Bless all of you our friends,

Our friends at Great Pyrenees Rescue of Houston need our help. Here is an email from them:
"This poor little girl has been abused. While we can't say for sure what really happened, we certainly have seen these situations is the past. She was adopted & returned. She is so scared that when you approach her she pees on herself. She was probably adopted to be an LGD & when she didn't do what the owners wanted she was probably beaten. I don't know how anyone could do that to a face like that. In time, she will realize that not all people are cruel.
Could you sponsor her please?"
Great Pyrenees Rescue Society of Houston will get her vetted and put her in a loving foster home while they look for a good permanent home for her.

"Hi Michael. Could you please help us with poor Amos? Amos was pulled from a high kill shelter in San Angelo. He is approximately 6 years old and was an owner surrender (UGH). He has a badly injured paw and a severe case of pneumonia. He is also heartworm +. His fur is so matted that it will take awhile to get his coat back into shape. We are not even going there yet until we get his pneumonia taken care of. He is so weak he can barely get up.
We really appreciate your help once again. Thank you, Gisela"

A couple of week ago, we were contacted by rescuers desperately trying to save this handsome boy from being put to sleep. We agreed to sponsor him if a rescue could be found to take him.
Here is the email that came from the shelter:
"This is a pyr mix and I have NO room. Everyone says he is sweet as can be
- HW negative. They think he is pyr/chow mix.
*URGENT - Needs rescue by MONDAY!!
**Whisper has been at the shelter 4-5 months. He is 5 years old. He even
went through heartworm treatment. But his adoption fell through because of
his separation anxiety. He needs to be in a safe yard when no one is home.
When you are home, he will sleep at your feet or just sit next to you for
some love. He is 45 pounds (but looks bigger). ** HE IS ON THE "LIST" FOR
MONDAY, APRIL 16!*"
Here is what the volunteer at the shelter wrote:
"Whisper is a darling boy that is 5 years old and lived most of his life alone. He loves humans of all shapes and sizes and wants nothing more than your love and to give you his. Because Whisper was alone for so long and left out in a yard he is most comfortable there when his human isn't home. He adores being inside sleeping at your feet and is always on his best behavior but would rather enjoy the sunshine on days when he's home alone. Whisper is 45lbs and has been treated for Heartworms thanks to a lovely donor. "
The wonderful people at Gentle Giants agreed to take him.
Could you please chip in to make this possible?
All donations are made through the Chip In directly to Gentle Giants, a 501c3 charity and are tax deductible.
What a sad sight! Cooper was turned into a kill shelter by his owner. I suppose the owner just didn't have time to spend with this gorgeous badger great pyr puppy. So his owner dumped him in the kill shelter where dogs who are surrendered by their owners can be put to sleep before the owner leaves the parking lot.
Our friends at the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society of Houston are taking him with our sponsorship.

When animal control picked up Jackie (the big Pyr we sponsored last week), she wasn't alone. She was taking care of this little guy. Is he her puppy? No one knows. Looking at their pictures, it is a little hard to imagine!
Anyway, if he is not her pup, how did she come to adopt him?
Like Jackie, the puppy ended up in a no-adoption kill shelter. The only way out of that shelter is for a dog to be claimed by his owner or be rescued by a rescue - they have no facilities for adoption.
Since the puppy's owner never showed up, he was doomed to be executed. Luckily, when our friends at the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society of Houston were there to pick up Jackie (thanks to you all for sponsoring her!), they found out about him and couldn't leave him to die. They asked us for our help to be able to take him out. Of course we agreed to sponsor him.

What a sad sight! Mora was picked up by animal control in rural Texas, brought to a kill shelter and waited in vain for someone to claim her or rescue her.
Big, grown-up dogs like her are not very adoptable, so crowded shelters do not hold them for long. The situation was very grim for her.
Our friends at the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society of Houston are taking her with our sponsorship. They will get her vetted and put her in a foster home while they look for a good permanent home for her.

Once more we are in need. A lot of puppies with no home. This is from Shana, a rescue that is overwhelmed. I am giving her dog food this week.
We can transport next week, toward the end of the week.
So, just sharing this video and the need.
Thank you and all for the donation for the van. Without that we could not have transported to Chicago.
I will be thanking everyone for this donation, with pictures of the event.

Could you please chip in $5 to help save a blind baby?
This beautiful Great Pyrenees puppy is Tyler. We are helping our friends at Lone Star Pyrs and Paws rescue him and his brother from terrible squalor - when found, they all had fleas so bad that two of the litter died.
Although he is blind and will be hard to place, Lone Star will save him and eventually find him a good home. We are sponsoring part of the cost to make it possible.

This big boy is Polar Bear. He looks like he is part Saint, but what are the other parts? Anyway, he is one very big dog!
He was in a kill shelter in Texas. He was practically unadoptable because of his great size, and also because of a problem with one of his eyes requiring surgery.

Have you ever seen such a sad sight? She is waiting for her family to come back and get her. This beautiful Great Pyr was someone’s faithful pet – and that person dumped her off at a kill shelter to be disposed of.
Could you please chip in $5 for poor Abilene?
She is a very depressed, lonely girl in a kill shelter in Texas, just waiting to see her family again. Since they dumped her off to be killed, there is no hope of that happening. Dogs that are surrendered by their owners have no protection in state law against being immediately put to death. To make matters worse, big, grown-up dogs like her are not very adoptable, so crowded shelters do not hold them for long. The situation was very grim for her.
Our webbot found a listing for Abilene on Petfinder a couple of days ago. Our hearts went out to this sad girl and we decided to do whatever we could to save her. We asked our friends at the Great Pyrenees Rescue Society of Houston to take her and they agreed! Dear Doomed Dogs Club - please see the email from Connie below. They need money ASAP for a trip this week for 4 vans of dogs to go to a huge adoption event. Please chip in if you can - thanks!
Michael and Friends,
We have an emgerency.
Dave went to Chicago Sunday with 38 puppies and dogs.
He noticed oil coming from our tailpipe. He was really concerned about making it home.
We took to the repair shop yesterday. It is the rear end and axis.
We have this huge adoption event in Chicago this Friday. The Mega Adoption Event.
I have 4 vans scheduled to go with dogs.
Already we are strained on gas money to make the trip. Now the repairs to the van.
I am beside myself.
Please if anyone could help us, we are desperate.
How can I tell all the groups down here there dogs cannot make the trip?
Right now the repair bill is $350.00. I don't know what the final bill will be.
[UPDATE from Connie: $500.00 for a new axle. Plus the $350.00.
What are we going to do????????????????????]
Thank you Michael and all our dear friends,
Connie and Dave
