Transport for 39 (or more) Dogs to Safety!

Could you chip in to support a rescue trip to save 39 (or more!) dogs? Each $5 donation saves a life!

Please chip in at www.doomeddogs.blogspot.com.

Our friends Connie and Dave are planning another trip on Friday. This time it is a trip from Oklahoma to bring at least 39 doomed dogs and puppies to safety in Minnesota.  Our $200 sponsorship is about $5 a dog - it can be so cheap to save a puppy's life!

Here’s an update from Connie and Dave:

Hi Michael,
Here is a picture of Sonic, a 5 - 6 month old beagle mix from the Glenpool Pound in Glenpool, OK.

I received an urgent email last Monday to see if I could help a puppy that was there. I responded with "yes".

Then I received another email asking if I would help the other 5 dogs that were in their pound. They were all going to be put down Thursday (the 21st).

The dogs included this baby named Sonic.

Even though room is always tight on all transports, I responded with yes, we would be there Thursday afternoon if they would please hold them. The animal control officer was very happy to do this. So this precious little guy and his buddies WOULD have died last Thursday morning.

Sonic and the others will be heading to our vet on Monday morning for their necessary vaccinations, heartworm checks and spay/neuter.

From there they will make their long trip to their forever homes in Minnesota on the 29th.

Our plan right now is to transport this next Friday, April 29th. The annual Walk for the Dogs is scheduled for this coming Saturday, where Dave and I will be able to see many of the dogs that we have transported over the last 2 years. This will be an exciting day for all of us.

Last Sunday as we were coming home from transport, in the middle of the interstate were a mom and her 5 babies. This was over 60 miles from us. We immediately stopped and I got mom and babies running off the road into the ditch. They ran in a field. I could not catch them. I cried all the way home. For two days I kept praying for them to be safe. Finally on Wednesday I told Dave I just had to go back. We drove back the 60 miles and drove around and there in the ditch were the mom and babies! I jumped out of the car and with a little coaxing she came to me and her babies.  The babies were only about 5 weeks old. Beagle mixes. I plan on taking them as soon as they are 8 weeks old.

Right now the list is as follows:

Sonic and his 5 friends.
Golden Retriever (found dumped along a country road)
Bosco - German Shepherd around 7 months old (dumped at McQuicks Store last night)
26 puppies from Cherokee County Humane Society (Lou)
6 Dogs from Dr. Elliott in Tahlequah OK

And there may be more before next Thursday. Each day we receive anywhere from 10 to 30 phone calls and emails about dogs/puppies in need.

Without all of you helping us with the gas money, these transport trips just cannot be made.

Thank all of you and God Bless,

Connie and David

Connie and Dave regularly drive around and pick up doomed dogs from shelters in Oklahoma and Missouri. These dogs would likely be put to sleep if not for them.  Your donations literally make the difference as to whether there is enough gas money for these trips to happen or not and whether these dogs live or die - thanks for your support!

All donations go directly from Paypal to Save Our Strays, a 501(c)(3) charity, and are tax-deductible.
