This potentially handsome Great Pyr was on his last day in a kill shelter in Missouri when, with our sponsorship, rescue champion Carolyn Jordan stepped in to save his life. He was so matted and flea infested he had to be shorn like the sheep he was born to protect. Our sponsorship will pay part of his medical and fostering costs.

Dasha's story is just another tale we have heard many times before. This beautiful Great Pyr became a stray and had no tags and no chip, so when she was picked up and put into a kill shelter in Texas, there was no way to find her owners.
Huge adult dogs are not easily adoptable, so she stayed in the shelter until her time was up.

Rupert was turned into the shelter at 10 weeks of age - probably another case where the breeder had an extra pup from a litter that he couldn't sell. The pup gets a little older than the perfect adoption age of 7-9 weeks, so take him to the kill shelter because it's not worth spending the money to vet and feed him.
Shelters are death traps for puppies, places where they can easily catch distemper, parvo or other deadly diseases.

Our friends Connie and Dave are planning another trip on Wednesday. This time it is a trip from Oklahoma to bring at least 43 doomed dogs and puppies to safety in Chicago. Our $200 sponsorship is about $5 a dog - it can be so cheap to save a puppy's life!
