Talon

Could you spare $5 to help save this old guy?

This is Talon, a sweet old Great Pyrenees. He was picked up as a stray in rural Georgia and taken to the local kill shelter. When a sick old dog is picked up as a stray in a rural area and then not claimed, my guess is that the owners heartlessly dumped the dog. I mean, how hard could it be to find your dog if there is only one shelter in your county?

We spotted him online in September when he had only 4 days left in the kill shelter. We asked our buddies at Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta to take him. They agreed, even though they could see that he was old and probably sick. We sponsored him but unfortunately our sponsorship didn't come close to paying the bills for Talon. He is heartworm positive and had problems with an ear infection. The total vet bills are over $1,000. It's easy to see why good rescues always need money - they never know what they are getting when they pull an unvetted dog from a shelter, but they do it anyway.

Talon is doing better and is staying with a GPRA foster family. At his age, the chances of finding an adopter are pretty low - it's likely that he will live in foster care for the rest of his life.

Please help us raise $150 we need to help pay for Talon's vet bills (and enable GPRA to save the next sick, old Pyr guy they see in a kill shelter).

Our continuing support of GPRA enabled them to save this dog and to keep him. In fact, your donations have been very effective in helping our rescue partners to save more than 80 dogs in the past months.

All donations go directly from Paypal to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Atlanta, a 501(c)(3) charity, and are tax-deductible. Please chip in - together we can help save Talon and many more!
